Delpark Homes Centre

The Delpark Homes Centre, which was known as the Legends Centre before, will shortly be known as the Delpark Homes Centre, thanks to a 10-year agreement between the home builder and the city of Oshawa.

It was announced on Nov. 15, by city officials that they had reached an agreement to buy a community centre located in the north of Oshawa at 1661 Harmony Road N.

A five-year agreement between Delpark and the City of Oshawa was originally signed in March for sponsorship of Arena 4 at the community centre, but that agreement was later extended to include naming rights to the Legends Centre following a closed meeting of the council in May.

As a result of this deal, the city will receive $150,000 each year from Legends for a total of $1.5 million.

The Mayor of the City of Oshawa, John Henry, said Oshawa already has sponsorship contracts with recreation facilities in place. This includes the $2.5 million naming rights contract for the Tribute Communities Centre, which was signed last year.

Delpark is a big part of our community, and I believe this community centre may be the first in Durham that is named after a company. We have a great partnership with one of Durham’s busiest recreation facilities, and we’re delighted that they are here,” he said on Friday.

In addition to Henry’s comment, there were 1.5 million visitors through the doors of the community center last year and that does not include those who use the outdoor facilities such as splash pads, playgrounds or skate parks exclusively.

At an event celebrating the occasion, Henry thanked the homebuilder for their investment in the city at a cake-cutting ceremony on Nov. 15.

Delpark Homes Centre understands that the value of family is paramount to its success, and as a family-run company, it recognizes the value of family,” said Mark Di Giovanni, Vice President of Land Development for Delpark Homes. “Our commitment to building great neighbourhoods. where families can grow and thrive is an everlasting one that we have lived by.”

We as home builders appreciate the value of community, and we find that families enjoy recreational facilities like this one. In the Delpark Homes Centre, new families gather up to play sports, play games and do outside activities on a regular basis, gather with one another and learn about their neighbourhoods. The naming rights of Delpark Homes Centre matched so well with our long-term plans for Oshawa and Durham Region that it made sense to us to take on the naming rights for the development.”
